About Shaylee

I’m Shaylee, the craftswoman and weaver behind Her Wild Womb. A collection of my creations that have been birthed out of our cozy little studio in Worcestershire. A space shared with my beloved James, who is a Tattoo Artist & Illustrator. Our warm & cozy creative space over looks the land & lake where we live in our horse truck ‘Myrtle’

My connection to nature has always been a big part of my life, the driving force & inspiration behind all of my creations. Growing up in a small rural town in Outback Australia, we lived close to the land & sea. Whether that was, camping fire side under the stars, up a muddy saltwater river or walking barefoot through the bush. I remember using what was around me to create something beautiful. One of my favourite pastimes is beachcombing with my mother, we'd return home - back to our boat and craft the most special sacred pieces. Some of which I still have today. I have carried this craftsmanship through my life, and it has now become a part of my life's work. Creating something raw into something sacred, that people can carry with them on their life's journey.

Some of the materials I use have been gathered from these lands. Wherever we find ourselves, I'm on the forage for fallen feathers, bones, stones, seeds, wood or shells. Only ever taking what is meant for me and leaving plenty behind. I also have an ample bead collection that I’ve been collecting for many years & when my mother visits she arrives with treasures from my homeland, Australia. I feel it is important to reuse and repurpose wherever I can, one of the ways I do this is using remnant leather. Something that would otherwise end up in landfill.

Her Wild Womb is deeply rooted in my inner seasons & the cyclical nature of EARTH. I feel my creations embrace the natural world. Reminding people of the beauty nature has to offers us, bringing us closer to our roots. Working with natural material is one of my avenues to deepen my connection with Earth. I believe anything handmade takes on the essence of the maker, the energy from the place it is found and the material it is made up of. I like to think my creations will connect people to a memory, a special moment in time or become a protective talisman depending on your intention. Carrying the spirit and story of animal and land. Adorment for the wild untamed soul. I trust my creations are just that, for whomever they come into connection with.
